The 'Performance Evaluation' clause of the new ISO 9001:2015 combines the previous version's clauses of monitoring and measurement, internal audit and management review. Some organisations will simply continue with their processes of monitoring and measurement without linking the important 'Process Management and Improvement' steps afforded through process performance monitoring. How do companies monitor and measure their processes? Are there good measures of effectiveness, through Key Performance Indicators (KPI's). How often does the process owner review process performance through the various tools suggested in the new clause 9?
Deming has two classic quotes relating to data; the one above relating to opinion, and the other is "In God we trust, everyone else bring data". How good is your quality system performance data? Does it demonstrate the effectiveness of your processes? Does it allow you to identify process improvements?
